Debra Bethard-Caplick, MBA, APR
Founding member and manager Debra Bethard-Caplick, MBA, APR, enjoys a 20-year career in public relations that includes expertise in long term care, hospital, medicine and healthcare associations. She has built communications teams and initiated crisis communications, strategic planning, public policy and reputation management efforts at for- and non-profit organizations and agencies. Active in the Public Relations Society of America, Debra is president of the Suburban Chicago Chapter and National Assembly Delegate. Other professional affiliations include the International Association of Business Communicators and Oak Lawn Toastmasters. Currently writing a book, she blogs and teaches PR and advertising writing at DePaul University College of Communication.
John Castagna, M.A. Strategic Communications and Leadership
John has in-depth experience over more than 20 years in strategic communications, public and media relations, marketing communications and stakeholder relations. A former managing broadcast journalist, he has led media training for organizations ranging from the American Red Cross and the Wilderness Society to energy companies and federal agencies (including the White House, EPA, Navy.) John is a former national spokesman for a major industry. He’s expert in engaging major media, building strategic relationships, and forging strategic communication plans. He’s a passionate speaker and writer, and has taught corporate communications, media relations and presentation skills at Penn State as well as in the workplace. Operative philosophy in communications and marketing: The head always follows the heart.
