When QSE founder Debra Bethard-Caplick was a PR major at Illinois State University, a wise old professor, Dr. Mike Shelly, told the students that at least once in their professional lives they would be faced with making the choice to violate ethical standards to do something a boss or client wanted, or to walk away from their job. Like most college students, the very idea seemed somewhat ridiculous, but time proved him right. Quicksilver Edge Partner Debra Bethard-Caplick Elected Public Relations Society of America Midwest District Chair
Debra Bethard-Caplick, MBA, APR, was elected the Chair of the Midwest District of the Public Relations Society of America June 12th. Debra is the founder and managing partner of Quicksilver Edge Strategic Communications, a public relations/marketing communications firm. She is also an adjunct instructor with the DePaul University College of Communication. She is filling the vacancy created by the resignation of Lori Marble, APR, who stepped down from the position to accept a promotion with her company.
Along with the district board, Debra serves as a link between the local chapters and the national organization, offering professional development programming that complements national programs, and cultivating outstanding members at the district level who can contribute to the broader professional community.
The Midwest District includes more than 2,500 public relations professionals in 15 chapters covering eight states: Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
Debra has been a member of PRSA since 1989, first with the Chicago chapter, and then the Suburban Chicago chapter. She is a past president of the Suburban Chicago chapter.
