Quicksilver Edge Partner Debra Bethard-Caplick Elected Chief Ambassador of the Illinois Jaycees
CHICAGO – Debra Bethard-Caplick, MBA, APR, Ambassador #262, was elected the 34th Chief Ambassador of the Illinois Jaycees at the state convention in Decatur January 25th. Bethard-Caplick is the founder and managing partner of Quicksilver Edge Strategic Communications, a public relations/marketing communications firm. She is also an adjunct instructor with the DePaul University College of Communication.
As Chief Ambassador, Bethard-Caplick is responsible for leading the Illinois Jaycees Ambassadors in the coordinating the individual skills training programs and competitions for the local chapters An Ambassadorship is the highest honor awarded by the Illinois Jaycees. Recipients are chosen for their dedication and achievements in the areas of individual development, personal skills development, training and competition at the local, state and national level. In the 83 year history of the Illinois Jaycees, only 266 Jaycees have been honored with an Ambassadorship.
Debra has been a member of the Jaycees since 1991, first with the Oak Park Area chapter, then the Brookfield chapter. Now, as a Jaycee Alumna, she divides her time between the Woodridge Jaycees and the newly established Tinley Park chapter. The Illinois Jaycees Ambassadors were founded in 1976 by a group of Jaycees led by Bob Michael, #001 who had reached the mandated “aging-out” for active members. Michael conceived of the Ambassadors as the culmination of the Jaycees’ mission to be a leadership training organization developing tomorrow’s leaders by using Jaycee projects and programs.
